Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine is committed to maintaining and fostering a learning environment free from discrimination based on sex in accordance with Title IX of the Higher Education Amendments of 1972. The Federal Title IX Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs or activities that are federally funded. Sexual misconduct includes sexual harassment, sexual violence, sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence and/or dating violence. Sexual misconduct is a form of sex discrimination and will not be tolerated.
To comply with Title IX, an institution may not exclude, separate, deny benefits of any kind to, or otherwise treat differently a person on the basis of sex. Title IX protects students, employees, and applicants for admission from all forms of sex discrimination. All employees and students must comply with the College’s Title IX policy and take appropriate measures to create an atmosphere free of harassment and discrimination.
Complainants are not required to report to area law enforcement in order to receive assistance from or pursue any options within Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Title IX Coordinator will provide victims of sexual misconduct with information about available support services and resources, and also assist the Complainant in notifying law enforcement, including the local police, if the Complainant elects to do so.
